PROFESSOR BERNARD LEWIS, AUTHOR, "WHAT WENT WRONG?: WESTERN IMPACT AND MIDDLE EASTERN RESPONSE" Well, we just sort of grew naturally. It was not caused by recent events; the book was already in page proof on September the 11th. But anyone who followed the Middle East could see which way things were going. This started as a series of public lectures which I gave in Vienna and then I decided to expand it, recast it, add to it, and it turned into this book.

The Great War for Civilisation: The Conquest of the Middle East is a book published in 2005 by the award-winning English journalist Robert Fisk.

The book is a compilation of many of the articles Fisk wrote when he was serving as a correspondent in theMiddle East for The Times and The Independent. The book revolves around several key themes regarding the history of the modern Middle East: the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf War as well as the 2003 Iraq War (United States invasion of Iraq) as well as other regional conflicts such as the Armenian Genocide and the Algerian Civil War. The Great War for Civilisation is the second book Fisk has written about the Middle East with the first one, Pity the Nation, (Nation Books, 2002) being about the Lebanese Civil War.

Bilim dünyası özellikle fenni ilimlerde artık kılı kırk yararak bilgi kırıntılarını bir araya getirerek farklı atılımlar gerçekleştiriyor. Zaten teknolojik ilerleme için “mucit çıkması” da gerekmiyor. Kapitalist dünyada mucit ürettiği malın ticari niteliği ile değerlendiriliyor. Bu konuda sanırım en büyük örnek de Edison. Fakat Tesla ile aralarında bulunan “garip” ilişki günümüz koşullarında ortadadır. Edison çok iyi bir pazarlamacı olmasına karşı Tesla bir o kadar iyi bir bilim adamıdır. Fakat bir o kadar da kötü bir şekilde fikirlerini kullanamamıştır.
